From the mouth of my wife....

Hi All, I am Amanda, Glenn's wife :) Just thought I would do abit of an update on where we are at right now.

Well we have started the FB event page (see previous blog entry for link) and I have to say I am abit disheartened. So many people who I thought were friends have declined our invitation. Maybe I am being abit silly to be upset but really, how hard is it to click 'attend' and show some support? Of course we are after donations, but we aren't forcing anybody into anything. Just abit of support for a greiving family would be nice. I am eternally grateful to those who are attending. Our event would be nothing without them :)

It has been six months since cancer took my sister-in-law, Betty. Six long months of seeing my husband sad. Upset that he has lost his sister. Staring off into space, knowing that he is thinking about her. And wondering if there was anything he could have done. Grieving not only for his sister, but for the Aunty our youngest daughter will never get to meet. It really is heartbreaking. I have never had a death of a loved one affect me so much. I still think about her too. I hate that she is not here anymore. She was the only one from my husband's family that supported our relationship and accepted me into their family. I just wish we had more time together.

We are still waiting for our first donation towards our $5000 target. I am starting to think that what seemed a sure thing, is now a very dubious one. Of course anything we raise would be fantastic but $5000 would be just amazing.

Well it's late here and I guess I should call it a night. Thankyou for supporting us and this cause so far.

From the Cancer Council of WA's website -

Cancer is the second leading cause of death, accounting for 29.2% of all Australian deaths. In 2007, 40,287 Australians died of cancer, that's more than 770 people per week. This is followed by respiratory disease and accidents.

Help us lower this number by donating today.

  1. I am sure if you keep up the momentum, you will get supporters and keep them...

I for one would love to donate, but cannot at the moment... however... this is a long-term project and I'll be happy to donate closer to the time...

You have at least one follower here... I am SURE there are, or will be, more.

    K.
